Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival & The Misty Capital
Pick up from Guwahati Airport/Station. As you ascend into the hills, watch the landscape transform into a misty wonderland. Stop at Umiam Lake, then visit the three-tiered Elephant Falls which roars to life during the monsoons. Enjoy a warm evening at a local Shillong cafe.
Mawsynram & The Caves of Mawlyngbna
Drive to Mawsynram, the wettest place on Earth, to witness the stalagmites of Mawjymbuin Cave. Continue to the picturesque village of Mawlyngbna. Trek to the famous Split Rock, search for ancient sea urchin fossils.
The Roaring Cascades of Sohra
Drive from Mawlyngbna to Cherrapunji (Sohra). Stand before the mighty Nohkalikai Falls (India’s tallest plunge waterfall) and Kynrem Falls at their peak monsoon volume. In the afternoon, gear up for more caving in Arwah Cave, walking through underground streams to find crustacean fossils embedded in the limestone.
Living Roots & Asia's Cleanest Village
Descend from the high plateau to Mawlynnong, famously known as Asia's Cleanest Village. The village is stunningly vibrant and green during the rains. Walk the moss-covered pathways and take a short trek to the Single Decker Living Root Bridge, suspended over a rushing monsoon river.
The Brimming Pools of the Jaintia Hills
Leave Mawlynnong and drive eastward to the Jaintia Hills. Hike down into a deep canyon to reach Phe Phe Falls—a stunning two-tiered waterfall that fills a massive plunge pool. Enjoy the dramatic canyon views before heading back to Shillong for your final night.
Farewell to the Clouds
Enjoy a final hot Khasi tea while watching the monsoon clouds roll over the hills. After breakfast, begin your safe descent back to the plains of Guwahati for your departure.
